With the imposing Brokenback Mountain in the background, the Hunter Valley has been home to winemaking for nearly two hundred years. Big names work alongside boutique family makers and winemaking dynasties stretching back over six generations to produce world-class wines.
Travel across Sydney Harbour Bridge and leafy Northshore suburbs to escape the city. Soak up the stunning scenery as we cut through sandstone hills, while passing national parks with dense cover of the eucalyptus trees. Cross picturesque Hawkesbury River home to pearl and oyster farms. After brief refreshment stop, country road will lead you via Cessnock town centre to the first winery.
Spread across 14 hectares encompassing 10 internationally themed gardens to explore, there is something for everyone, including the ever-popular Storybook Garden. 8 km of pathways will lead you to spectacular vistas including a 10m high waterfall, topiary displays, man-made ponds, statues, murals, beautiful architectural structures and much more. In the Gardens there are 6,000 trees, 600,000 shrubs and over 1 million ground covers to discover from Australia and around the world.
Begin your own wine story with the visit to two out of over 150 wineries; meet the makers, get their riddles and relish in premium wine tasting. Surrounded by undulating vineyards with wild kangaroos about, no matter what season, there is always time to appreciate glass of good wine.

Decided to take a tour of Sydney before we ventured on our own Hired Mark Wachtl www.wachtlaustralia.com.au. And it was great. Mark picked us up at the airport and took us all over the city and out to Bondi Beach where we stopped for lunch. We got an overall view of the city as well as some history. Mark was friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us a map when we finished the tour, circling where we had been and suggestions of where we might want to go. He said to call him if we had any questions. He’s a great guide and I would recommend him.
