Ultimate journey from harbour to the ocean, including must see historic Rocks, Sydney Opera House, stylish Eastern Suburbs, and famous Bondi Beach. Full day tour is offering sufficient time to cross Sydney Harbour Bridge to explore leafy north shore and Manly.
Start with drive through the historic Rocks precinct, a birthplace of the penal colony, and home to some of Australia’s oldest pubs. Learn about the first settlement and hear story of the notorious larrikin gangs dominating the area in late-18 hundreds.
Stop under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and drive through some of the city first streets passing early architecture blended with modern skyscrapers. Stop at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair carved in 900 million years old sandstone and enjoy sweeping harbour views dominated by the iconic bridge and Sydney Opera House.
Continue through some of the most vibrant neighbourhoods in Sydney, heading from HMAS base at Woolloomooloo via the bustling Kings Cross, and exclusive Eastern Suburbs to the Gap – the only entry to Sydney Harbour. Enjoy short stroll with striking ocean and harbour views from top of the cliff to charming Watsons Bay.
Take a short break at famous Bondi Beach for a stroll along the fine sand, passing the Australia’s first Surf Life Saving Club and watch the surfers catching a wave. Dip your toes in the refreshing Pacific Ocean or mingle with locals for a cup of flat white coffee at the promenade. On the way back to city pass smaller but equally gorgeous Tamarama and Bronte Beaches.
Travel through stylish Paddington while admiring rigorously restored Victorian Terrace Houses and trendy Darlinghurst before checking on futuristic recreational and pedestrian precinct of Darling Harbour situated on western outskirts of centre business district.
After crossing Sydney Harbour Bridge, we will stop at Kirribilli with sun well positioned for a great picture of Sydney Opera House and the bridge before passing official residencies of Governor General and Prime Minister of Australia. Heading northeast we pass through Balmoral Beach and leafy North Shore suburbs still surrounded by their original forest. Arabanoo Lookout offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and The Gap. Hear a story of the Gadigal man and initiate into the aboriginal culture and their connection to ancestors’ land.
As one of the first seaside resorts to allow daylight swimming and surfing back in 1903, Manly offers the unique combination of serene sandy harbour coves and inlets and iconic Ocean beach on the other. A stretch of golden sand, lined by magnificent Norfolk pines curves almost two kilometres from South Steyne to North Steyne, and Queenscliff, where a submerged reef, or bombora creates waves prized by top surfers. Enjoy and afternoon ice cream or coffee as you stroll the Manly Corso, an open-air mall which connects the surf beach to calm harbour beach.
Beat the afternoon traffic and enjoy 30-minute ferry ride back, past the Sydney Opera House to finish at Circular Quay. Scroll through the waterfront quarter as you make your own way back to your accommodation (ferry at own expense).

Mark took a family of three adults around for the day and it was a pleasure. We were picked up at our hotel promptly when scheduled and drove to the blue mountains in the comfort of his van, where we spent a wonderful morning at featherdale with the kangaroos. We did the typical tourist stops at scenic world which was a bit touristy but nonetheless something we wanted to see. then we drove closer to three sister rock formations and got another scenic look and even a chance to stand under the formation. Mark was a pleasure to be with all day and we couldn’t have done it without a car. He suggested a delicious little place for a quick lunch too. I highly recommend a tour with Mark.

Mark, I think I’ve expressed to you how appreciative I am that you were our Tour Director in Australia. I realize how much hard work you did to keep things running smoothly. All the members of the group appreciated the special helpful things you did for them. For me, it was especially that fabulous last day tour. Your personality is special and great for a tour director. Take care and come visit us in the US one day. Sincerely,
Jean W
